Rocky Balboa Returns!

I went to see Rocky Balboa yesterday... the first showing at the local theatre. I am huge Rocky fan and have been watching since I was a little kid. My family will attest that the number of times I've seen each one cant be accounted for ;)

Like everyone else, I felt Rocky V was a complete disappointment. Of course like everyone else, I thought this would be a complete joke when I first heard of it. That was until I saw the trailer. From that point on, I said it might work.

Rocky Balboa, the sixth and final installment of the series goes back to its roots. It will remind you in many ways of the original. The movie evolves a bit slowly but with good reason. We find out that Rocky's wife has since passed and you can sense the grief that Rocky has. We are re-introduced to Paulie providing the necessary comic relief as Rocky is in mourning on the anniversary of his wife's passing. Rocky revisits a lot of the old stomping grounds in Philly and Adrian appears in an almost ghostlike manner. Rocky is basically living in the past remembering the good times... the better times.

Rocky now keeps himself busy with a small local restaurant named after his wife. It's an Italian restaurant and most of the patrons are there to remember the old times and hear Rocky tell stories of his past. Rocky puts a sport coat over his sweatshirt and plays the nice guy... shaking hands and visiting each table many times repeating the same stories and then posing for photos.

Rocky's son Robert (played by Milo Ventimiglia) is also reintroduced to the viewing audience. He's grown and is trying to make it in the corporate world but somehow feels that his father's fame and name have kept him from achieving greater success. The distant relationship is seen as Rocky makes attempts to visit his son and maybe grab a cup of coffee only to be brushed off as quickly as he came. On his way out, you can see that Rocky is still revered in the community stopping to sign autographs and always treating people to a hello.

Rocky really only has his son and Paulie left in his life. You can feel the sense of loss and lonliness with his wife gone, his career over, and his son's distant relationship. Rocky can't let go and even Paulie urges the former champ to stop looking back.

Rocky revisits some old stomping grounds in Philly below the tracks and even takes a look at Mick's gym which now is severely rundown. He stops at a local pub where we meet another old friend, "little Marie" back from the original movie. Marie is all grown up and on a bad streak of her own, struggling to get by but still a friendly face... even if she told Rocky "screw you, creepo" the last time they saw each other. Rocky, always being the nice guy, offers a helping hand and a ride home trying to find the best in a bad situation.

It seemed as though things were just going day by day until an episode of ESPN hit the airwaves with the basic question, "What if?" What if the current heavyweight champion Mason "The Line" Dixon (real-life boxer Antonio Tarver) fought Rocky "The Italian Stallion" Balboa in their prime? Who would win? A computer program that matches athletes from different eras predicted Rocky as the winner.

The current champ is seen as greedy and too good for the modern day, watered down version of boxing. Mason Dixon is going through opponents with ease but the fans have lost interest and turned on the champ who is seen as money hungry, cocky and not the true warrior that a Rocky Balboa used to be.

The film used real-life commentators and analysts who then discussed the possible outcome. The analysis was split and it definitely stirred things up within Rocky.

With all the things going on in his life, Rocky doesnt have a way to express himself. Rocky isnt a writer or a man of words. He's a fighter, and fighters fight. That's the only way he ever got rid of pain or anger so the question begins to creep up in his mind. He goes to his friend and confidant, Paulie who of course thinks he's crazy but as Rocky says "there's still stuff in the basement" referring to his heart and feelings. There's a "beast" within him that needs to be fed. Paulie leaves Rocky without support mocking him in much the same way we as viewers do but now we realize why he would want to. Rocky then goes to discuss the idea with his son who also dismisses his desires with little regard.

Rocky, just wanting to do some local club fighting attempts to get his boxing license on his own. Even though he has passed the necessary medical exams, he is turned down by the boxing commission. We are left with Rocky arguing his case fighting for his dream. The boxing commission listens to the compelling argument and grants Rocky his license.

The news flies all over and eventually toward the direction of the current heavyweight champ and his promoters. The champ dismisses the news and even the thought of a match but the promoters tell him that there's no money to be had in Pay Per View and the ESPN prediction has left a lot of people...well... curious. There was money to be had and they want to angle an exhibition in order to help the champ's reputation.

Before you know it, we have our Rocky montage going and we get to hear Gonna Fly Now one last time. Apollo's former trainer makes a return and strategizes a training regiment that will allow Rocky to throw some "hurtin bombs." The strategy is power and nothing more... to make the champ feel pain with any punch that is landed.

Rocky's son, Robbie comes to confront his father about the decision to fight... especially after hearing everyone around him talking about how Rocky is going to get killed in the ring. Robbie is falling under his father's shadow once again not being able to hold on to his own identity and blaming his father. Rocky, still feeling the pain and hurt tells his son that somewhere along the lines Robbie has changed. Rocky leaves his son with words of wisdom that life will always be cruel, hit you, and try to knock you down but its not how hard you hit back but how hard of a punch you can take. The words are left ringing and do manage to change his son's views and eventually win him over.

"Why is this called an exhibition? Because otherwise it would be called an execution." These are the words of real announcers ringside for the fight.

The weigh-in, opening moments and introductions as well as the first round are all shot as a real PPV fight with official HBO logos and tale of the tape. We are even given a cameo by Mike Tyson sitting along ringside.

Rocky Balboa brings a sentimental finish to the series and brings us back to the roots of the 1976 original. The movie may not win any awards in the box office but it will your heart if you are a Rocky fan or fanatic like me.

'Nip/Tuck' will implant itself here (LA Times)

'Nip/Tuck' will implant itself here
The daring FX series set in Miami seeks further enhancement with a move to a famous Left Coast address.
By Maria Elena Fernandez, Times Staff Writer

Source: Los Angeles Times: calendarlive.com

Goodbye, South Beach. Hello, Beverly Hills.

McNamara-Troy, the debauched plastic surgeons of "Nip/Tuck," have hung up their Miami shingle and traded up (or so they think) for the reconstructive mecca of the famous ZIP Code 90210.

In last night's fourth-season finale of FX's series, Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) decided what viewers have known all along — that he can't live without his partner and best friend, Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh). In a season of several important goodbyes — Julia divorced Sean for good this time and left town with their two younger children; scalpel addict Mrs. Grubman passed away and nemesis Escobar was shot to death — the doctors shut down their Miami practice to start anew in Los Angeles.

The surprise ending only marks what fans have come to expect: Nothing on "Nip/Tuck" stays the same for long. So the season that began with the doctors celebrating their 5,000th surgery in Miami ended with the two of them glamming it up next to the Hollywood sign, with "Hollywood Swinging" playing in the background.

"I just felt there was nothing else they could do in that office," creator Ryan Murphy said. "They've been through too much. The show has always been about taking big risks and taking big chances and doing things you wouldn't expect. In Miami, these are supposedly the best plastic surgeons. Now, we'll do the flip of that. They'll be the little fish in the big pond, which is fun and shows a struggle and gives us room to grow."

That has not been a problem for the Golden Globe-winning series, which has reigned over the 18-to-49-year-old demographic in basic cable since it premiered in 2003. Even last year's over-the-top, macabre season, which turned off critics as well as some fans, didn't seem to make anyone stop watching. In fact, "Nip/Tuck" has grown 12% this year with adults younger than 50, and is poised to end the year with its most-watched season ever, a feat uncommon among 4-year-old shows.

Perhaps the show's continued success can be attributed to its restless energy and how in one hour it offers a taste of several different genres, mixing the real with the outrageous.

"I think our signature in the first two seasons was that we could operate on so many levels at one time," Walsh said. "Sometimes it was gothic soap opera. Sometimes it was wicked black humor, and sometimes it was farce. Sometimes the soap opera thing was a parody, like our commentary on it, and sometimes it was full-on earnest. Last year, the humor got lost along the way and I think we really missed it. But this year I feel like we brought back those elements of the first two seasons and brought some new stuff, and for me, it's been the most fulfilling to work on."

It started with the show's new use of guest stars, which included recurring roles for Larry Hagman, Peter Dinklage, Jacqueline Bisset, Sanaa Lathan, Brooke Shields, Rosie O'Donnell and Alanis Morissette, and one-episode turns for Kathleen Turner, Catherine Deneuve, Melissa Gilbert and Richard Chamberlain.

"Ryan has always been someone who has had his own obsession with celebrity and I just couldn't think of a better way to incorporate characters than to bring in all of those extraordinary people," McMahon said.

And there was more: Scientology was introduced as the new religion of Matt (John Hensley) and Kimber (Kelly Carlson); Sean and Julia (Joely Richardson) had a baby with a deformity that provoked the final break in their marriage; the characters were shown 20 years in the future; and Murphy borrowed a trick from the movie "Magnolia," turning a four-minute montage in the finale into a music video.

Many of the season's high points were comical: Sean's interpretation of Bad Santa, Christian's stint as a ventriloquist's puppet, Christian and Dawn Budge's (O'Donnell) sexual tryst, sexy Kimber's faceoff with the Scientology figure Xenu, and the sneak peek viewers got of grown-up, messed-up Annie, the perennially neglected daughter of Sean and Julia .

"Poor Annie!" McMahon said. "That's exactly how you thought Annie would be because can you imagine growing up in such a screwed environment? I thought everybody was hysterical but if I look like that at 60, shoot me. I'll look like that at 85."

McMahon may not pleased with Christian's futuristic beer belly, but he and Walsh are both excited about the show's move to Los Angeles, which Murphy dreamed up when he pitched the themes for the fourth season to John Landgraf, FX president and general manager, earlier this year. Murphy, who is working with a new producing team, wanted to wrap up most of the show's ongoing story lines — which he did — and give his characters new challenges.

"It's a white-knuckle ride working with Ryan," Landgraf said. "I was worried because Miami has been a significant character in this series. But now I think it's exactly the right creative choice to make."

The move gives Murphy an opportunity to build new offices for McNamara-Troy and new bachelor apartments. "I just got bored with the sets. Now I can create these massively great new sets," he said enthusiastically.

Walsh was a little more introspective about the prospect. After filming his emotional goodbye with Richardson, who had to cut short her time on the show this year to take care of her ailing daughter in England and will come back for only a few episodes next year, Walsh said he was despondent over saying goodbye to her and to Sean and Julia's house.

"Joely and I have had so many intense scenes over the last four seasons in that house," Walsh said. "It's always so much more intimate to play those kinds of scenes with an actress, going through the worst a marriage can go through, than to do a sex scene. By the end, when she walks away, Joely or Julia, whichever one, it's very sad to me. There's a lot invested there."

Murphy understands the fans feel that way too, so Sean and Christian will not be moving alone. Matt and Kimber will have their baby, but Matt will move to Los Angeles to go to college and medical school. Kimber will be closer to Scientology and porn. Liz (Roma Maffia) will join the doctors and serve as their anesthesiologist. Julia and her children will visit.

"There's a funny message in all of this, which is that you can keep trying to change the things around you — your relationships, your clothes and where you live — and in an odd way, these guys always land back where they are," Walsh said.

But does moving to California mean that the doctors and best friends will live happily ever after? Or is "a brighter discontent the best that [they] could hope to find," as the song by the Submarines used in the finale's music video goes?

For the sake of the fans, let's hope for the latter.

The Sexy, Surreal Slice & Dice of Nip/Tuck

Source: The House Next Door
Written by: Ross Ruediger

border=0>Tonight FX delivers the Season Four finale of its highest rated series, Nip/Tuck.
Based on the 14 episodes presented thus far, this season's subtitle should be
“The Apology”, because after the disaster that was Season Three, that’s what was owed to long-term fans -- and it’s largely what producer/writer Ryan Murphy and his band of twisted lunatics delivered.

Episode 14: Willy Ward

This Nip/Tuck episode was all about change... plain and simple.

We start out seeing that Sean is starting to get over his holiday depression but still feeling the effects of Julia leaving him. Everything anyone says seems to trigger a memory that he can relate to.

Michelle is in the midst of a change of her own... falling for Wilbur. They almost made her look human pushing the little guy on the swing.

Welcome back Gina! I couldnt get over how nice she was when she first got into Christian's office. Christian baited her as much as possible but she didnt give in... but then it wasnt long before she stormed into the restaurant and became the psycho Gina we all know and love. It was pretty cool to hear the spa mentioned... I think that's first time we heard it was sold.

Willy Ward was an absolute nut but then again, so is everyone else that comes in for surgery these days. I loved the music they played during the surgery (“I'm Your Puppet” - James & Bobby Purify).

I think James killing herself caught everyone by surprise did you see the way she called about the child kidneys? Just cold and ruthless... she pulled it off without a hitch.

I absolutely died laughing with the whole Matt/Sean scene. Matt comes into the office to speak with Christian about some intimacy issues with Kimber... yeah that conversation would have went well.... but ends up talking to Sean. Sean stumbles all over at first mentioning the Kimber doll and wanting to bring it out. I loved Matt's comment about Sean sounding like Doctor Ruth!! "Christian will tell me how to make her hot. You make me feel like I'm talking to Dr. Ruth...it's totally embarrassing." Then Sean goes off his rocker and starts telling Sean how to give her anal and be confident about it! OMG!! Sean turned into Christian!

She's a former pornstar. You've got to be assertive, be a man. When she says she wants you to give to her in the rear...and believe me... Kimber will say that ! You tease her first with your tongue. She'll beg you to stick it in but you hold off. Wait till she rithes and screams till she cant take it any more and only then do you give her what she wants! You pound her so hard she'll beg for mercy! The neighbors will either move out or send flowers. That's what I did with her... ....what I'd do...

LOL!! PRICELESS!!!

Quote of the night came from Matt to Sean after this little chat: "If that's what you did with her, I can't imagine what Christian and Kimber did together."

So Michelle will be Wilbur's mom.. we'll see how long that lasts. She got a brief moment to gather herself and think she was free when James blew her brains out... but then our old friend Escobar made an appearance surprising Michelle in her own car. You see, he was James' boss and now Michelle will have to take her place! LOVE IT!!

The real twist of the show came when Sean felt left out again regarding Wilbur being missing and not knowing about James being Michelle's madam. He wants Michelle and Christian to buy him out.... he wants to be on his own and find himself.

It really seems that Sean is becoming Christian and vice versa. Christian is focused on family while Sean wants to find himself and it appears he is ready to let loose. I cant wait to see the new Sean!!!

Great episode in preparation for the finale!

MSNBC: Rosie O'Donnell to join ‘Nip/Tuck’ full time?

Rosie O'Donnell to join ‘Nip/Tuck’ full time?
Actress says she's been offered leading role on plastic surgery drama

Rosie O'Donnell played lottery winner Dawn Budge during the fourth season on "Nip/Tuck."

Is Rosie O'Donnell joining the cast of "Nip / Tuck" full time?

That's what Rosie said to the studio audience during a break on the set of "The View" on Wednesday. She said she's been offered the female lead of the show since Joely Richardson is leaving for a year.

She said that she'd play the character of Dawn Budge, who was introduced in a guest role this past (the show's fourth) season. Dawn would be the owner of the plastic surgery center and do things like "sneak Cher in the back door" and then hire paparazzi to take pictures.

Rosie added that it would be a 15-week shoot in Los Angeles. She didn't say if she was going to do it, but it sounded very much like she's leaning towards it.

No word on how this could affect her schedule with "The View," but Rosie has said that she's only signed on to co-host for one season of Barbara Walters' morning talk-fest.

Ryan Murphy: Joely Richards will be back!

12/1/06

I just want to make a statement now. Why all the pessimism, guys? You all at this point must know I am extremely loyal not only to the fans, but the show. I am still in negotiations for seasons five and six, and am extremely optimistic a deal can be made. I just finished editing the finale, and it hit home to me how much the crew and cast means to me, and how much I want to stay on. And when you SEE the finale, and the resulting twist, you will see how much I truly want to continue to take the show in shocking fresh new directions.

So please. Until you hear it from me, consider me in -- loyal to the show, and you guys, who have made the show what is is. Of course, I will continue to post on this forum on the OFF season as well...giving you guys updates, ideas, thoughts for season five, etc. And I want to hear from you what YOU want. After the finale, which I hope you all will worship, I would really like to hunker down on this site with my beloved Diane, Luby, CJ, Richard AM, etc. and see what direction YOU would all like to take the show...after this season's finale, I think you will agree the possibilities (new characters, etc.) are LIMITLESS. I will use you guys to help me come up with new ideas. And please, trust me -- Joely IS coming back. Enough with this doom and gloom about our beloved blonde-tressed actress. Trust me on this. I have never lied to you guys before, and I never will.

So again....let's all be positive and hopeful, until the fat lady sings. I think this year has been a great collaboration between me and the fans -- you guys. I couldn't have done it without you. And as for the future...I won't do it without you, either. I need you guys, as much as you need me and this show you all love. I'm not leaving the show -- how's that for an Xmas present?

OPTIMISM rules. I'm tired of cynicism, and bad vibes. Lord knows the world is hard enough as it is. We all need something positive to cling to in these trying times. Trust me.

Love,
Ryan

Ryan Murphy Promises Death!

11/28/06

"I indeed did promise you all a death, and I am a man of my word. That's all I'm going to say about the finale.
Someone...important. Someone...none of us can live without.
Don't listen to the spoilers. No one has gotten it right, and no one will. I have filmed several versions, ala Sex and City, so know one knows but me. And I'm not telling!

I am editing the finale as we speak, and am very proud of it. Someone earlier posted "is it my favorite finale"? In many ways...yes. It wraps everything up, and yet leaves so many possibilities for the future...a future very changed from the McNamara/Troy that we have come to know. It reflects a changed me...so different from where I started when I came up with the pilot, etc.

I know you all hate me now for the tease, but this is all I can say. I'm very emotional as I edit this damned finale. Goodbyes are hard."

Who's the better mother? Michelle or Gina?

I honestly had to laugh at some of the responses I am reading about Michelle being a much better choice as a mother than Gina. I've read many post replies stating that Gina shouldnt be a part of Wilbur's life and that Wilbur would be much better off with Michelle.

So let me get this straight... Michelle has continually lied, cheated, been blackmailed, murdered, conspired, married for money, and killed for more money is a better option than Gina??? In what world do you all live that think this?

Yes, Gina's a slut... we know this. She uses foul language to Christian and is HIV but cmon!!! Michelle must be playing the victim very well because you all are hooked on her act! LOL... It's Gina's biological kid!!

Tell me what you think

Episode 13: Reefer (aka Santa Claus)

I really got a laugh out of this episode! I cant give Dylan Walsh enough credit in this one. He was absolutely amazing playing Sean McNamara in last night's episode. I was very happy to see Wilbur back and Michelle almost seemed human for a moment there.

Sean had so many great moments, you'd have to watch them to fully appreciate them. I cant give it justice! I will, however, provide a pic!

In a typical Nip/Tuck twist, we see Reefer... the man Sean tries to help in the end by giving a warm meal and literally the suit off his back.... get chopped into little pieces by James.

I cant even describe my emotions after seeing next week's preview as it appears James wants to get in the black market for child organs.... specifically Wilbur's!!!

Incredible show and I can't wait for next week's episode!

Episode Recap:

This was the Christmas episode and Sean was shopping for gifts and expecting to have Annie in for the holidays. Julia (via phone) told Sean Annie was sick.... Matt was there and said that he couldnt make it either. He was going to be with Kimber for the holidays.

Sean got a bottle of wine from Dianne Lubbey (week prior who did the ashes in her implants)... He ends up drinking a glass or two. Christian tells Sean that he has a present of a patient for Sean... a woman who wants a clitoris enhancement so can achieve the ultimate orgasm.

Sean appears pretty drunk as he's doing the surgery but does the job. Later, he's working on another patient... a Santa who's ex-wife burned him as he came down the chimney for his children. It was a friend of Poppy's so she was there in the operating room. During their chat she suggests that Sean be Santa at the mall since this one would be out of commission. It would give him some love from the kids. Initially Sean says no but changes his mind.

Christian gets a surprise! Wilbur comes back.. his bilogical father has passed and left Wilbur to Christian. Wilbur's brother is there to tell Christian. Initially Christian thinks no, but then changes his mind after thinking about it. He misses his "son."

Meanwhile, Sean is at the Mall drunk as a skunk getting ready to sit with the kids. One of the elves, a female midget comes over to get him. Sean, drunkenly asks... "do you know Marlow?" LOL... He says that he "thought they (midgets) all knew each other." They get a little flirty and the little elf talks about needed a stiff south pole every now and then. Sean calls her a Ho Ho ho! LOL... Sean makes an appearance with the kids being pretty snooty like Bad Santa telling one kid he's crazy for asking for something he could get hurt with. He tells another that his mom has nice tits. Christian comes to the mall with Wilbur and is greeted by Liz and Poppy who are helping Santa. They tell Christian that Sean is in Santa's workshop taking a break. Well a picture is worth a 1,000 words so you have the picture above (courtesy of the Nip/Tuck Fanatic!).

Sean meets a homeless guy named Reefer during the episode who gives him a hard time for being an asshole (only giving $1 and ridiculing him for not trying). Sean, down in the dumps and drunk meets the guy on the beach. Sean is really depressed and wants to be like the bum and be forgotten. Reefer convinces Sean otherwise and Sean offers to stitch him up as he noticed some cuts on his face. Reefer had made some money by bum-fighting for cash.

Sean and Reefer go back to the office and Sean cleans him up and offers him the chance to stay the night and have a warm shower in the morning. He even offers him his old brown suits if he swings by in the morning. The only one there in the evening is James who is recovering from her beating the episode before.
She gets a call saying that she has a midnight deadline. Well, Reefer is the only one in the place... and she goes on the attack. After drugging him and taking his organs, she calls Michelle to come clean up. Apparently, there are FBI agents outside the office because Escobar had sent a ham to the guys for the holidays ;) Michelle cuts the body up and they leave with the parts in Santa bags as Michelle is dressed up saying they are heading to the hospital.

Michelle had gotten the call and left Christian with Wilbur there on xmas night by himself. She lied and said that there was a leak at one of the sites she owned. This was after sorta warming up to Wilbur because she now found out he was black. At first she didnt like the idea stating that she had already been changing diapers for the past few years. Christian convinces her by stating they could try it out... much like the marriage.

After Michelle leaves, Christian heads over to Sean's for xmas with Wilbur and they have a nice moment together as the show concludes. :)

What's next for Sean McNamara?

This past week we saw a heartfelt goodbye to Julia. I definitely think her character will be missed. This left me thinking... what will happen with Sean's character next? We saw a glimpse of him in the future but didnt get a lot of details.

Will Sean become a bit more like Christian... trading in the hybrid for a luxury sports car? Will he start to date again? I think that the Michelle/Christian relationship will ultimately wear on him as well as Julia's departure. We've heard the rumors about Nicole Kidman wanting to get in the script... maybe a new girlfriend? Will we Sandra Bullock next year after her recent movies with Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon? Maybe Sean will revisit an old relationship (i.e. Nikki Morretti played by Anne Heche)....? Maybe Sean is content being alone and accepts everything happy to possibly become a grandfather to a Kimber/Matt child even if he isnt the biological grandfather (LOL...).

Where do you think Sean's character will end up? Drop me a line at the Sean McNamara Discussion Topic...

Episode 11: Conor McNamara 2026

Ok, yes I know I am late... long story but I had to catch the Fri night replay...

I wasnt sure what to expect and I read the mixed reviews and I already knew what the episode was about. As a fan who has watched from the beginning, I have to say I was pretty impressed with the episode. I thought it was heart-felt and accurate to the paths that these characters are heading down to.

We all have seen the self-destruction that these characters continuously endure and with this episode, we actually got a glimpse into their future. I dont think I was shocked by any of it actually. I really was impressed at how they all ended up back together as well. I thought it was very touching to see Conor bring everyone back together so that he could feel "complete" as well.

As many readers know, I havent been a fan of Julia's character but for some reason tonight (whether its because I know she's leaving the show or not) I really will miss her character. Much like this episode depicts, the show wouldnt be complete without all of the characters together.

I got a kick out of Christian being well... Christian ;) You have love the line he says about his two new girlfriends from Dubai... "they dont stop until the super viagra wears off!"

It was really good to see Matt get his act together and be someone that everyone could be proud of. It was definitely an interesting dinner table with Annie craving attention.... I could have done without all of the references to her characters current appearances. She's only been in a couple of episodes, did we have to relive each of them through her lines? LOL...

I thought Sean looked a bit old at first but it was the same old Sean and it was nice to see Conor and him act so similar as Conor spoke with Julia and Sean with Matt regarding the surgery. I also felt for Sean as he was trying to board the house up... keeping the one thing in his life left from falling down. It was also really nice to see one last embrace by Julia and Sean at the airport... Julia will definitely be missed and I will look forward to her return next year.

I give the writers a lot of credit in this episode as they really did put the pieces together. Definitely an episode for the Nip/Tuck lifers but will probably be lost on the occasional viewer.

Line of the night.... came in the previews for next week when Sean says "so interesting when the hooker becomes the pimp..."

Michelle will be in for next season!

Source: toptensources

The new issue of People magazine reports that Sanaa Lathan has signed on for 12 more episode of Nip/Tuck. So she'll be around for another season. That's great news. She's one of my favorite actresses and she's truly a gem on this show. I guess the producers needed a female character to replace the departing Joely Richardson (Julia).

Premonition (2007) starring Sandra Bullock and Julian McMahon

This may be old news for some but Sandra Bullock and Julian McMahon are starring a new film called Premonition. Sandra Bullock seems to be making the rounds with the characters of the show. Earlier this year, Dylan Walsh starred along with her and Keanu Reeves in Lake House.

Check out the movie trailer: Premonition

Offtopic: Saw III and Borat

Hey gang, I know this is waaaaay off topic but I saw a couple of movies the last couple of weeks. Both we high in the box office... Saw III and Borat.

I caught Saw III opening night and was really looking forward to it. I'm not so much of a horror addict but I really love how the movie makes you think. I always tell people it is much more like Seven than Chainsaw Massacre. I think that's a fair assessment. I loved Saw III and actually thought it was the best of the trio except for the fact that the first one was so unique and original.

Ok, the next movie I saw was Borat... I was in the mood for a laugh and heard it was hilarious. Actually the quote was that you miss a good portion of the movie because people are laughing so much. I thought it was ok but lacked any real thought requirements. To me Borat was a combination of Jackass and Dumb & Dumber. There are parts you cant help but laugh but it got old fast and ended just in time for my taste. It's not a movie I would see a second time, that's for sure but I guess it is what it is.

Well, I'm totally hooked on Dexter these days which airs on Showtime. It's another thought provoking show with a very dark angle to it. I even find a lot of humor in it as we hear what goes on in the mind of a serial killer who just so happens to go after the bad guys. Well, drop me a line and let me know what you've seen lately or what you thought of these.

In a show filled with shockers, the biggest one is not the departure of Joely Richardson's character on Nip/Tuck - it's the departure of Joely Richardson herself. "What the future holds nobody can say," says Richardson, sitting in her trailer next to a vase of roses, a farewell gift from the cast. "It's all up in the air. And I don't know if I will ever be here again."

The English actress, who plays Julia McNamara, has kept quiet until now about the family crisis that led to her decision to leave the series. Her only child is facing multiple surgeries on her leg due to a circulation problem with her veins. Daisy, 15, was diagnosed with the rare condition shortly after her first birthday.

"Surgeons and hospitals have been a big part of our lives," explains Richardson, 40, who is divorced from Daisy's father, producer Tim Bevan ("Notting Hill"). "We were always told that she would have to have more surgeries when she got older. The time has come."

Richardson, who mostly lives stateside while sharing custody with her ex back in London (where Daisy goes to school), found herself facing every single mom's nightmare. "I love my work," she says. "But I had to be in two places at once. And I thought 'If it were all over tomorrow, what would I regret?' It would be not being there for her."

Richardson first called Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy back in January to alert him to the problem. "It had to be done, but it was scary," she recalls. "You think, 'Oh, my God, are they going to sue me?'"

Instead, Murphy planned the season around her dilemma. "I was sad, but Joely came before her character," Murphy says. "The dynamic of the show changed with the difficulty of what she was going through [personally], plus what she is going through on the show this season playing the mother of a deformed baby. And Joely knocked it out of the park. This is the best she has ever been."

In Richardson's last episode, which airs November 14, fans will be able to see the characters 20 years into the future. (The actress looks a lot like her mother, Vanessa Redgrave.) "It explains where Julia has gone," Richardson says. "Dylan [Walsh] and I cried when we read the script."

But we may not have seen the last of Julia. Hoping Daisy has a fast recuperation, Murphy is writing a version of the December 12 finale that includes Richardson. And he's praying that she'll make it back next season: "I don't want to do the show without her."

Episode 10: Merrill Bobolit

The return of Escobar!!!

Well the show started off with a bang... Matt and Kimber come in for a consultation and tell Sean and Christian that they got married three days earlier... not only that but Kimber is pregnant! Matt believe he is the father but Christian is convinced that it's him! He'll go to great lengths to prove it. Kimber's consultation is about getting her silicon implants removed so she can breastfeed. Christian later agrees with alterior motives. While Kimber is under, Christian does a very dangerous procedure obtaining a DNA sample from the fetus to prove what he believes is already true. After the surgery, he confront Matt calling him nieve and a loser. He tells him that he should dump the bitch because she only slept with Matt to get even with him.

Just when things cant seem to get crazier, we see the return of Bobolit! That's right, Bobolit returns from prison with a message for Christian and Sean. However, first he details his experiences in prison as he became the prison bitch while he was there in an effort for survival! He talks about how he was passed around and used and abused! He finally got married while in prison and his spouse's name is tattoo'ed on his @ss! He drops his drawers to Christian and we see "Escobar" written across the cheek! Bobolit says that he needs an anal cavity repair and that he doesnt have insurance but he does have information! Information about the body that Christian and Sean left out in the Everglades. Bobolit tells them that Escobar told him the information and if they want them to keep the info quiet, they'll do Bobolit's rectal cavity and do some work for Escobar.

It seems that Escobar had his face burned off. Escobar wants Christian and Sean to fix his face back to the old face. Christian mentions that it will only make things worse, and end up even more time in prison. Escobar would rather go back to prison looking as he used to rather than going and living another day as a pervert behind the prison walls. This episode was about perception. Escobar forces Christian and Sean to rework his face that was severely burned by blackmailing them with the murder of Alejandro's brother (season 1) whom they fed to the alligators in the Everglades.

We later see Kimber and a Scientology coach teaching Kimber techniques to have a silent birth with no meds (better for the baby). Throughout the scene, Matt backs down to Kimbers every command fetching Kimber's water and basically taking a back seat like Sean usually does to getting treated like a peon. The funny part is Julia sees this and tries to warn Matt of what he is getting into. It doesnt help. Julia goes back home and confesses to Sean about her affair with Marlo only after finding out from Marlo that Sean confronted him.

Sean's confrontation with Marlo had to be one of the funniest as we end up seeing Marlo climb a ladder to get eye to eye with Sean asking him if it would make him feel better to hit him. Sean just ends it by saying that he painted over the mural. I had to laugh!!!

Sean, initially pissed at Julia ends up making out with her right after he finds out the news that Julia cheated on him. Weird but typical Sean! You have to love Sean asking Julia questions about how he was in bed, how big he was, did he make her orgasm.. etc.! He was pretty pissed for someone who did the exact same thing (Monica)!!

Christian and Sean begin the rework Escobar but Bobolit loses his marbles during the surgery grabbing a scalpel, turning up the oxygen and waking Escobar up during the surgery!!! The cops can't shoot because of the oxygen in the room (and fear of blowing up).. Bobolit babbles that he wants to kill the man that violated him over and over and shared him with the "entire penal system" as Christian so elegantly put it. Escobar would rather go back to prison as the man who killed Escobar and be treated like a king than stay on the outside like a piece of trash! Remember, this episode is about perception and image ;) Sean catches Bobolit with a punch and saves Escobar's life.

Escobar is in the recovery room when Sylvio's brother appears as a night nurse to change the bandages. He slips Escobar a gun and later make their escape. Christian finds dead cops everywhere and Sean, now at home, comes face to face with Escobar again (with a semi-old face because of the stitches). Initially Sean disregards as another hallucination but realizes he is face to face again. Escobar keeps his word and returns the evidence to Sean of the killing in the Everglades... Alejandro, Sylvio's brother, dead on the couch with a bullet in his forehead.

Sean calls the police to report the murder, Escobar walks free... Bobolit is back in prison. Christian finds out that while the DNA shows he has some similarity, he is not the father! Sean confesses to Julia that he slept with Monica!

Too many lines in this one for the quote of the night but the one that stuck out to me was while Bobolit was on the operating table getting his rectal cavity repaired and talking to Christian.... "she (Kimber) may have never had you from behind but she had you by the balls!"

Next week... we flash forward to 2026!! Can't wait as we enjoy the ride!!!

Who do you think is the father of Kimber's baby??

Hmmmm??? I personally think that it is Christian's. I think Matt would have been bumbling his whole experience with Kimber. I can envision him bringing up the fact that they need a condom.

Christian, well... he was drunk and angry and deep down we know he belongs with Kimber and deep down we know he wants a kid after the whole Wilbur thing. It just makes sense to me. Watch it be some unknown stranger! ;)

Will Alanis Morissette and Nip/Tuck's Liz Make Beautiful Music Together?

Source: TvGuide by Mary Murphy

Extracts:

TV Guide: How did you get the role?
Morissette: [Nip/Tuck creator] Ryan Murphy was speaking with my agent, and said that when he had written the role of Poppy, he thought of me.

TV Guide: Why you?
Morissette: I had a lesbian role on Sex and the City where I ended up kissing Sarah Jessica Parker. This, though, feels like a more fleshed-out relationship, more than that cameo.

TV Guide: You kiss Liz, right? [Maffia described it as "just a playful one, no tongue."]
Morissette: The kiss felt so natural; there was nothing uncomfortable about it. We live in a homophobic culture — if it were two men they would be judged to the nth degree, but with women it is "hot." What I love about this is this seems real.

TV Guide: Have you ever had plastic surgery?
Morissette: No, I haven't. I am 32. I think it can be a slippery slope.

TV Guide: What is it like working with Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon?
Morissette: Dylan's character is haunting and present and vulnerable, but macho at the same time. Julian... he just cracks me up. He is somehow attractive underneath that despicable character.

Episode 9: Liz Cruz

Julia... Julia... Julia... Well, Ms. McNamara did what everyone thought she would. She slept with Marlo and managed to give him a complex over his..uh... short-comings? All of a sudden, Marlo (Mr. Confident) is interested in lengthening his legs, an extremely painful procedure and all for Julia! Wow, the girl has power! Marlo even went so far as to ask Sean to do the procedure!!!! It's been an interesting ride with the babysitters at the McNamara household. Julia sorta confesses near the end of the episode but doesnt give all the details other than calling Marlo a friend that she was visiting.

Well, we finally got to see Alanis Morissette! She plays Liz's new girlfriend named Poppy. We find out that she's kinda cruel too. After convincing Liz to go in for a little Nip/Tuck of her own, we find her critiquing Liz while she's under. Poppy happens to be an anesthesiologist (like Liz) and was in the operating room with Sean and Christian while they were performing the procedures. I think Poppy's comments even managed to creep Christian out as she was asking them to do more work on her. Lipo wasnt quite enough!! Oh and you had to love Christian's comment to Liz at the "Tell me what you don't like about yourself" consult. Liz tells Christian and Sean about her new girlfriend and Christian says something to the effect of "I must have missed the news, I didnt realize hell froze over." Classic Christian!

Poor Liz... She always has it the hardest but at least she has a cute girlfriend!

Oh, and one the other side stories was Christian almost losing his kidney... yes, seriously!! How does Christian keep getting involved with James. She ends up drugging him after first seducing him into having/wanting to have sex with her. You see, a few not too friendly assassins visited James earlier and they want a kidney in 24 hours. They poured gasoline on James and brought out the ciggy!! James happened to be at a gas station pumping gas by chance. Well, she got her 24 hours.... called Christian up and drugged him. Little did she know that Michelle wouldnt follow through on her part.

Michelle isnt all that kind... she had a little scene with Burt and left him crawling for mercy on the steps!!! He just wanted some pills man! Michelle apparently has a lot of feelings for Christian that the money apparently cant hide.

Well Christian got back to business and got even with James by putting some "waste" in her 100K car. Christian commented that a lottery winner had paid him 4X that to ride him and that James still owed him 300 more. With that, James offered Christian a truce... a female with long legs and seductive eyes. Of course Christian took James up on the offer. He commented that god gave him an organ and he wants to play the music! (Something to that effect) ;) I'll update when I watch the replay.

I cant wait for next week. It's the return of Escobar coming in with a really, really torn up face!!! .....and.... The return of Bobolit !!! We also find out that Kimber is pregnant!! Wow, didnt see that coming. We'll have to wait to find out if it's Christian's or Matt's.

Nip/Tuck Challenge - Who's Slept with Who?

I am compiling a list of "partners" that Julia, Sean, Christian, and Matt have had over the 3.5 seasons to date. It's not as easy as I thought it would be as it requires some digging through old episodes and reading up on reviews. Can you add any to my list?

Check out the discussion thread I started: Nip/Tuck Fanatic Discussion - Who's slept with who?

Who was your favorite? Which one were you most suprised at? Drop me a line...

I am hearing a lot of rumors about the upcoming Bobolit episode 2 weeks from now. Apparently, Escobar makes his official return from prison and I am also hearing that he made Bobolit his *bitch* in prison!!! ROFL!!! If I am putting two and two together, Bobolit worked on his face??? I am also hearing that we will also see the re-appearance of Silvio Perez and Alexandro.... remember them from the season 1 pilot?

I got the goods from a Christian Troy Myspace Blog

Episode 8: Connor McNamara

Wow!! The highlights for next week look amazing!! I cant believe James is going to set Christian up and then try to force Michelle to do the kidney surgery on him! My jaw hit the floor.... Then you have Marlo wanting to get taller... LOL!!

Let's summarize this episode....

Christian went from the bad guy last episode to the good guy this episode, showing amazing bedside manner with Mrs. Grubman. What really surprised me was the empty funeral! I really enjoyed Mrs. Grubman's character the past few years. She'll always be remembered to me as the Crypt Keeper as Christian so kindly referred to her. ;)

We also got some insight into Sean's character as he grew up with a cleft palate. You had to feel bad for what his family went through. The flashbacks were a little weird at first but it made us wonder what was going on. It also made for a good storyline to go with Connor's surgery. That surgery looked tough for a little baby.

I also got a kick out of Sean's fight. I really thought he was going to take a beating in front of his kid. Instead, he knocks the guy out with one punch after insulting the guy's son... making fun of his nose and weight in retaliation to the insults made about Connor.

I want to hear from all the Sean bashers after Julia strikes again, getting involved with another man in her life... now Marlo!! I had to laugh but I knew it was coming. I just didnt think he'd re-appear so soon at the surgery!!!

A friend of mine and I were joking that they were going to make out in the waiting room since the surgery would be a while... I know... bad humor.

To be continued...

A Nip/Tuck Season 4 Argument in the Making

Many of the regular readers know that I dont have a good feeling as many others do for this season. We're 7 episodes into Season 4 and while it's had some ups...

I just read a great write-up on last week's episode: Please, Sir, May I Have Your Kidney?

I enjoyed reading this as it comes from a different perspective from my own. I also feel that it makes for a great argument and discussion. Which side of the fence are you (the readers) on?

The Rebuttal:
I've been glued to this show since it's pilot and while I enjoy my Tues nights, I feel the writing has taken a turn for the worse.

Are we as viewers really supposed to believe that Kimber would allow of a sudden become so vulnerable to Christian after she's been so strong in each episode due to her Scientology studies? Kimber wanted no part of Christian or Sean and even went so far as to warn Matt about them, eventually helping Matt move out right in front of Julia and Sean. Now, on a whim, Christian appears in a drunken state throwing a few lines at Kimber and bam they're back together... at least until Christian turns his back on her. I agree that those were the harshest lines I've head on TV! In retaliation, Kimber goes back after Matt (which was the only writing in this episode that made sense).

Are we also supposed to believe that Sean, the good-hearted one who always does pro-bono, doesnt have a guilty conscience about the babysitter situation and will allow Liz to die right before his eyes? Are we also believe that Matt, the most self-conscious of them all is willing to part with his own kidney realizing Liz is family? How bad was the writing that both Julia and Christian (Matt's biological parents) were not matches to Liz but yet Matt and Sean both were? Did the writers even bother to see if this was even possible?

I also do not share the same opinion about Rosie appearing on the show. I think her character is ridiculous and she's gone through this metaporphisis of a character in less than 2 episodes.... This is the same character that only a few episodes ago brought her husband in for a penile enlargement, her daughter in for a boob job, volunteered herself for superficial surgeries, slept with Christian, and now she has become the savior for Liz???? That's quite a turn of chracter and one that I am not able to swallow. Yes, it was a touching moment that I saw coming. I was expecting Liz to put out her hand about 5 minutes before she actually did it.

I also do not understand the whole Christian / Michelle romance. It makes no sense and it has gone too quickly. Christian falls for this woman who I think everyone would admit is much less than other women he's dated. Their romance escalates (for some reason since the writers didnt fill us in). Then Christian, completely out of character, pays her blackmail debt off but yet nothing changes. In fact, now Christian is the one being forced to perform sex acts like a puppet in front of Burt. Oh and Brooke Shields is behind the whole thing???? Get real. The writers are loosely putting these pieces together and expecting the viewers to swallow it whole. It's been a disappointment to me as an AVID fan of the show.

Dont even get me started on Julia who fights with Sean over the baby but lets Matt run amuck.... "Matt, go ahead and sleep with the white supremecist in the next room.... go ahead and study scientology... here's the money..... go ahead and donate your kidney... go ahead and put a restraining order on your father for hitting you as you almost beat me." It's no wonder that Sean's character has finally lost his mind. With a wife like that, I would too!!! I just wish he'd grow some gonads and leave her once and for all. This baby storyline is only going to cause more friction between them. This is the child that might as well not be Sean's since he has absolutely no say in its life.

Sorry for venting but its just how I feel when I watch episode after episode this season. Maybe I take it personally because I am a fan of the show and hate to see it run sour as I believe it is.

I enjoyed reading a very different perspective as I am sure you all will too but I just dont feel the same way about it.

Looking forward to everyone's feedback either via comment or in the Discussion Forum.

Some existing Nip/Tuck continuity issues...

Not to nit pick but here's what I've noticed...

A couple of episodes have gone by and we have no idea what happened to the babysitter storyline. I mean wasnt there any news of the bus runover that Christian or Julia overheard... No one watched the news? You would think Julia might have a question or two when the chick doesnt show up.

Brooke Shields had Christian Troy tattoo'd on her back and then just disappeared.

Sean goes from good guy to bad guy (not giving the kidney up) back to good guy...
Christian goes from good guy (wanting to donate to being absolutely viscious to Kimber)... seems like they are going in and out of character too much.

The detectives were chasing Matt one episode when he ran into the warehouse with the scientology guys, but then nothing happened. The cops just disappeared and Matt's back donating a kidney. Weird?

How did the Michelle / Christian romance advance so quickly? Why was Michelle still obligated to do the kidney surgery after Christian paid the blackmail debt? I just dont see the chemistry between Christian and Michelle anyway. Christian isnt the type to pay a debt like that for anyone.

Annie was all over the place and we havent seen her since. Nothing unusual there... Please kill her character off! LOL... I cant take the disappearing act.

Where's Gina or the spa???

From last season we have no clue what happened to Cherry or Ariel...

Did I miss any?

Episode 7: "Burt Landau"

Ok, a little late on the episode summary but I missed the original airing on Tues so I had to catch the replay tonight. Christian goes from good guy wanting to donate his kidney to being the most vicious I have ever seen him after getting back with Kimber (briefly). He basically lied to her about finding out more about Scientology. Just before this, Kimber had turned down Matt... now she goes back to Matt in revenge!! That's a nice storyline!!

So, Liz has the worst luck needing a kidney after one of hers was stolen. Christian is the first to volunteer to see if he is a donor (while volunteering Sean at the same time). What's up with Sean though? Usually he's the nice guy but bails when he finds out he is the kidney match for Liz. He then blames the baby and not being able to go under the knife while watching Liz die? It turned out Rosie is the perfect match after Liz and her have a heart to heart in the recovery room... Sean confessed to Liz before the donation by Rosie but only after feeling guilty because Matt was a match and fully willing to volunteer... Weird.

Earlier Christian got pissed when the old man made a comment while he was doing his daily with Michelle while he watched. Christian bailed and the old man made his attempt to step up... although he almost croaked after taking some Viagra. Michelle is going to stay with him anyway even though Christian does his best to make her stay with him...

Nip/Tuck Music!

Recently I started a Nip/Tuck music thread for fans to share information about the music from each episode. This was only after several fans requested and replied (via comments) regarding music from each episode. I went out of my way to search for anything I could... most of the information is hard to find because FX doesnt post it. I found bits and pieces and eventually stumbled upon a discussion thread post by "Avalon" with all of the details! Great!! I was excited and reposted what I found giving proper credit to "Avalon" and even pointing to the fansite where the info was located: www.niptuckfans.com

Apparently, there were some issues with reposting this information but I have since gotten approval from PJ Bloom (Nip/Tuck's Music Supervisor)!! Wooohooo!!

Ryan Murphy, Creator Talks Nip/Tuck!

Source: Canmag.com - Oct. 10, 2006 by Fred Topel

While on the PR tour for his first feature film Running with Scissors, Ryan Murphy let a few tidbits about the future of his TV show nip/tuck slip. With his contract up this month, the future of the show may be uncertain despite it’s recent upswing in popularity.

Ryan Murphy Talks Nip/Tuck
“I don't know if I’m doing nip/tuck again,” said Murphy. “I don’t have a contract past this month so I don't know what I’m going to do. I have a couple movies in development. I have a couple of TV shows in development. I’m getting ready to start a production company. I don't know what I’m going to do. This year has been such a whirlwind for me with all this stuff and I feel so appreciative. I don't know. I don't know what I want to do.”

Fortunately for fans, Murphy left enough vagaries in there that it’s entirely likely this is just a negotiation tactic. The prospect of letting another show runner handle future seasons led to more sarcasm and vagary.

“Never, are you kidding? I don't know. I don't think they’d want to do it without me. I say that only because I’ve asked them. It’s a hard show. It’s a tone poem. It’s very much about my point of view of the world. Maybe. I would love it. I would love it if some of the other writers would do it and I’m not saying I won’t. I’m saying right now I don't know. I don't know what I want to do. I love the show. I love the people on the show.”

With last week’s episode revealing that the organ harvesters would be a recurring element with main characters involved, fans might see another Carver in the making. Murphy assures the majority of Carver-haters that he’s not going there again.

“Oh no, we’re never doing the Carver again. I don't know if you got that memo. No, it’s not because it’s not nearly as graphic. It’s not nearly as scary I think as that Carver stuff was. I didn’t want to do anything that was serial killer-esque and none of Jackie’s patients die. They all recover. But the show is about gothic elements. It’s an overblown pastiche about stuff like that and I always say that every season is only as good as its villain so it’s a medical story that’s kind of crazy but I love that. Jackie Bisset as an organ harvester, is there anything better than that? And I didn’t tell her when she signed on that that’s what’s going to happen to her so now she’s appalled and loves it. But Jackie Bisset in an Yves St. Laurent trench coat going on an organ harvest.”

Some of the Carver haters may still have lingering questions, even though an extra on the season three DVD explained how everything was set up for the big reveal along the way. Well, everything except the fact that they could have framed Christian for everything but instead gave him a perfect alibi.

“They had compassion. I don't know. I think they did. I don't know, the whim hit me. I knew they’d end up on the coast of Spain getting away and continue to carve people. I don't know. It’s just what I wanted I guess. I know it doesn’t make sense.”

But Quentin carved his own sister while Christian was locked up, and one has to imagine she let him since they were in on the whole thing. “Oh, I think that was sport. Those wackadoos. Crazy.”

Murphy has felt the backlash against the Carver-centric third season and designed the current one as almost an apology. “People hated that last year. A lot of people, they thought it was too much. They thought the fun had gone out of the show so this year I was really conscious about okay, no more gore, very little gore, a lot more comedy, a lot more sex and even if you do something like the Jackie Bisset organ harvest, you do it with a wink. The show has always had a sense of irony about it. I think if you do a television show particularly, it’s difficult to have everybody love everything. It’s like a marriage. Not every year in a marriage is fantastic. Some of them are really bad or difficult. And you learn things and I learned things. I learned what the audience loved and what they didn’t love and what I loved and what I didn’t love and I tried to make them mesh this year and as a result, this is the highest rated year we’ve had. It’s about okay, I hear you and I’ll try and fix it. It was sort of fun because it’s a challenge and it was like okay, I’m excited to prove that I can do this.”

Rosie O'Donnell Confirms Nip/Tuck Spin-off Series

Source

Oh my god... All I can say is what the heck are people thinking????

Rosie O'Donnell recently made two guest appearances on Nip/Tuck as Dawn Budge, a lottery winner who sleeps with her plastic surgeon, Christian Troy. Christian Troy used her for her money and well, she used him for sex after catching her own husband in bed with her daughter... (Father/Step-Daughter Relationship). Christian Troy slept with her for money and she did it for revenge and to get something she would not be able to get without the money.

According to the source, "And the character proved to be such a hit with fans, producers approached her about starring in her own show. In the "Ask Ro" section of her internet blog, she is asked the question, "Is it true ur in talks for a spinoff series starring as DAWN BUDGE?" O'Donnell posted the message, "Talks r over. I said yes." The new series will reportedly be shot in New York City, so O'Donnell can also continue her hosting duties on US chat show THE VIEW."

I've lost all respect for tv producers... I wont be watching this new series and I would be shocked if it had any sort of success. Rosie's character was ridiculous on the show and I am sorry to see this season heading in the wrong direction. I guess if they are aiming low, the Rosie series would be a bullseye. The writing has taken a serious dive this year and in my honest opinion and the spin-off only gives me reason to believe that Nip/Tuck wont be back next year. This is just my opinion with no official word or basis other than what I see each week on FX.

Penny for your thoughts?

Episode 6: Faith Wolper, PhD

A wild episode indeed... It wasnt surprising to realize that the first 10 mins of the show or so was a dream. I dont think anyone really thought Christian and Sean would show up to an all male resort in their speedos. I liked the twist of bringing back Brooke Shields and making her a little psycho. It's a little odd that she started out as Christian's psychologist first though. The babysitter returns this episode as the little midget got sick and Julia contacted Monica to fill in. Sean walks into the room and turns white... Monica is as crazy as ever and decides to help the baby by trying to breastfeed him!

Now, both Sean and Christian have their hands full. But wait, Sean took care of his problem!! Monica comes into the office after Sean first tries to pay her off. She says he nipple has gotten infected from the breastfeeding...... Sean is flipping out and starts seeing Escobar in the room! I have to admit, the dark humor of Escobar baiting Sean into killing Monica off while on the operating table was hilarious!! The next scene caught me completely off guard. It was very Final Destination-esque! Problem solved!

The show then just got a little weird after that... Christian finally decides to end things with Michelle. How did he come to this decision... well first Sean confronts him and makes him realize he's putting everyone in the office at risk if the practice is sold. Then for some reason, he confesses his situation to Brooke Shields (Faith Wolper, PhD) who just happened to come into the office to have a tattoo removed. Christian should have had his psycho-radar on for this one. Well things just got worse after that after we find that Brooke Shields thought Christian had interest in her. Well, the next thing we know Michelle's husband has found everything out (even though it's really over)... only he wants them to continue the relationship or he'll sell the practice and divorce Michelle!?!?! He feels that he cant satisfy Michelle and enjoys her "glow." Oh, and Brooke Shields is behind the whole thing

Yeah, if you havent seen the episode and you're lost... so was I. So now, instead of the madame blackmailing Christian... we have Brooke Shields running a scheme on him from behind the scenes acting as the old man's shrink.

Next thing you know we have Julia and Sean at the dinner table (minus Matt, Annie, and Conor)... Julia is as happy as can be and Sean begins to hallucinate thinking Escobar is sitting at the table with them congratulating him on how business has been handled. At the other side of the table, he sees Monica! LOL... Am I the only one that thinks Sean trips out way too much?

Common themes this year: Stalkers and nutjobs, Christian questioning his sexuality, Distorted Relationships, Urban Legends, Blackmail, and Dreams/Hallucinations. Anyone have suggestions for more?

Dexter - The Serial Killer Targeting Bad Guys

I know this is off-topic but have any of you caught Dexter, the new series on Showtime?

Here are a few links to get you caught up as we're two episodes in:
TVSquad
Buffalo News Editorial

The show's main character is Dexter (played by Michael C. Hall from Six Feet Under). The Miami Herald / newsbusters writes: This new show makes a hero out of a sadistic serial killer, because his insatiable desire to kill is channeled into killing other bad guys. During the day, he helps the cops catch other killers by assessing blood spatter patterns. Brent writes "He’s a sociopathic killer-slash-hero, with the emphasis on the slash – he carves his victims up to fit into Hefty bags."

I cant put it any better than that!

The show is dark and mysterious... it's a thriller and a drama. Dexter won't leave you with a happy feeling when you watch it but it will leave you wanting more and give you a whole new angle on criminal investigation... from the mind of the serial killer himself!

The show is well written and the scenes are drawn together incredibly well. There's a lot of gore but Nip/Tuck fans are used to that.... if you can get by the opening credits, you're good to go. As a viewer, I also really appreciate the fact that the writers fill us in about how this character came about via flashbacks with his father.

Dexter isnt exactly a social butterfly but he does have a girlfriend. It is really interesting to note that he doesnt go after sex or really have any interest in sex. So how does this work out with his girlfriend... well, in many ways she's "as screwed up as he is" in the fact that she was a victim of rape so her sexual desire isnt all there either. However, in the few instances she did get interested in continuing the relationship... it was Dexter who pushed her away subtly at first by mentioning the kids in the next room and then when that didnt work.... getting fairly aggressive (groping) forcing her to relive her memories and back off rather than him. Very dark wouldnt you say? That's the show...

Dexter's character brings incredible insight to the criminal investigations he works on as well as his opinions. In a scene where he has his next victim on the table, he states that he isnt religious but feels that higher powers are in the room providing justice. Something to that effect.... the monologue was interesting.

The backdrop to this year (as it appears) is that there is an "Ice Truck Killer" out there and the interesting twist is that he seems to know all about Dexter and is leaving a lot of personal clues... at Dexter's house! Now a normal person might be freaked out by this but Dexter is enjoying it immensely and is beginning to admire the new killer's work.

I'm hooked for the episodes to come as we see this battle of bad guys unfold. Definitely a show worth watching!!

Nip/Tuck Season 4 Rant!! Too many writers!!

Ok time for a rant after having far more interest in some episodes than others.

I think the writing really has been suspect this season but I think it is because of too many writers. I can tell because its obvious that each writer is coming up with their own ideas of how the characters should be drawn. It really is odd and I dont feel the episodes are coming together naturally. Here are some examples:

1. Christian falling for Michelle so quickly and then paying 500K to get her out of blackmail? Cmon... this isnt the Christian I know. How did that romance evolve??... I would have thought Christian would have hit and run (if you know what I mean). I can see Michelle doing this since she might be part of a bigger scam.

2. Point number is is eerily similar to how Christian was homophobic in one episode punching out some poor kid and then following another guy into the shower and checking out his ass in the next episode!! Speaking of the punch-out... maybe there's a violence streak going after the strike to the face of the model in the previous episode.

3. Julia's character is all over the place... one minute she wants all decisions to be family decided (after Sean gives Matt a car) but then wasn't she the one that gave Matt money for his cult... I mean scientology...Hmmm?

4. Kimber recovered awfully quick from her Carver attack and how did Christian get over her so quickly and turn to Michelle? Another few thoughts...How is Kimber making money these days and where did Matt get all these Scientology protectors??

5. The baby... oh my god, the baby. All this attention to his disease and then we dont hear a word about it while Sean and Julia are busy arguing over Matt. Annie makes an appearance and disappears but that isnt anything new. Why have the baby at all?

6. Where did all this incest come from this year? That's all new writing because it was never in any other episode in previous seasons. First the mother / daughter combo with Christian... then the husband /daughter scene in the last one. The sex went really dirty this season... think of peanut butter, lesbian encounters, Sean and the babysitter, Sean and a pregnant Julia..... What happened to Christian and supermodels!??!

7. Where's Gina? Where's Julia's mom... there was a new baby right? How did Matt and Cherry get away with shooting someone? Where's Ariel? What happened to the spa, the cream...? Big time continuity issues....

8. The episode where Sean gets pissed at Julia for having filled her meds and runs to the babysitter was classic Nip/Tuck... the hash brownies, the music, Escobar and Megan acting as good and bad consciences were definitely Nip/Tuck as I know it. We'll see Escobar in this week's episode again which is why I am expecting another great episode.

By the way, Julia still annoys me! ...and after Kimber went nuts last episode, she's on her way too... Kimber storms into the house like she owned the place and Julia does nothing as always... except blame Sean. Sean at least tried by hiring some special assistance (from where??) to go and get Matt.

Oh well... more ranting to come!

Alanis Morissette To Play Lesbian on 'Nip/Tuck'

Courtesy of toptensources.com and starpulse.com

Singer Alanis Morissette will guest star in three episodes of TV series Nip/Tuck as the lesbian girlfriend of Dr. Liz Cruz, played by Roma Maffia.

Episode 5: Dawn Budge - So-so Episode

Man, Christian was mean as can be this week!!! The Rosie scene was pretty funny... little weird with husband / daughter thing going on in Rosie's bed...

I dont understand why Sean just gets bullied around by Julia. She had her warm moment with the old wedding ring but other than that, my skin was crawling listening to her.

Kimber even gave me the creeps this week... that scientology is like a cult!! Poor Matt, always finds the wrong route to take.

The last 5 minutes of the show and the previews for next week were the most exciting part tonight. I just think the writing has been inconsistent this year. I did like the harvesting twist again at the end.

Can't wait for next week... the babysitter is back... breastfeeding the baby!!! CMON!! Blackmailing Sean too!!! Can't wait to hear what Escobar tells Sean this week.... "kill her!!" LOL

It looks like the even numbered episodes this year are more my taste! ;)

Drop me a line...

'Nip/Tuck' warms up to Scientology (latimes.com)

Maria Elena Fernandez from latimes.com
writes a great article providing insight on how Nip/Tuck creator
Ryan Murphy and his writers approached the topic of Scientology. Also included in some insight from the actors (Carlson and Hensley) portray their characters (Kimber and Matt) approach this sensitive topic. Check it out: 'Nip/Tuck' warms up to Scientology

Joey Slotnick (as Meril Bobolit) Returning to Nip/Tuck!

According to IMDB, Joey Slotnick will be returning to Nip/Tuck this season (Season 4, Episode 10).... Nip/Tuck fans will remember him as Meril Bobolit from Season 1.

His character in Season 1 was definitely one to remember! I can still visualize him giving mouth to mouth to a dog after a hair transplant went bad!! ;)
