Melanie Griffith To Guest Star In "Nip/Tuck"

Via theinsider.com

Melanie Griffith is set to appear on the final season of Nip/Tuck.

Griffith will be playing Brandie, Kimber Henry's mother who visits her former adult film star daughter from Wisconsin, as per TV Guide's source.

In the episodes, Brandie will be joined by her on-and-off boyfriend, Les, who attracts an instant hatred by Christian Troy, played by Julian McMahon. Les' treatment of Brandie reminds Christian of his own abuse of women.

Did you catch the Burn Notice Finale?

This is way off topic for my blog but drop me a line if you caught the season finale (Lesser Evil) of Burn Notice on USA. It's become one of my favorite shows. They really do their homework on the details and the clips on the website are great from both the creator and the actors.

The finale was intense from start to finish and kept the story moving. The Victor storyline was fantastic! "The enemy of my enemy may be my friend." There's a show I cant wait to see next year. Maybe, it's time to come up with a Burn Notice blog?

I have a few favorite episodes from Burn Notice this year: The Bank Robbery episode, the car thieves, the forged painting, and the Haitian father who was trying to prove who killed his daughter.... those were just some of the highlights.

Nip/Tuck Music

Fellow Nip/Tuck Fanatics, I've created a one stop shot for the various songs throughout Nip/Tuck. Feel free to give it a look and let me know what you think. Right now it is mostly Season 4 and Season 5 songs. It's not the complete list but it's not too shabby either.

Nip/Tuck Season 5 Finale - My Review

Well we waited all this time for the worst finale in the history of Nip/Tuck. I couldnt be more disappointed. This episode was slow moving and just flat out boring. We start out with two vampire-like patients biting each other due to addiction. Of course the guys fix them up only to see them continue their actions. Christian decides he wants to live forever by being frozen but after checking out the cryo process with Sean and realizing he may have an eternal roommate, he decides against it. Kimber gets kicked out of the bed (and the house) of her porn star threesome. Matt makes a weak attempt at getting back together with Kimber only to be shot down. Kimber makes a weaker attempt at trying to get Christian back. Teddy is a psycho and Sean doesnt know it, playing the fool. Christian and Liz go ahead and get married with minor disruption from Kimber.

....drumroll.... and my favorite part of this disaster episode was the complete copout by the writers..... Christian is not going to die. The doctors screwed up (the writers screwed us).

This was worse than a soap opera and as a longtime fan, I am TOTALLY disappointed.

Season 6 will be the last and we're given 2 parts to drool over... wow... I can't wait now.

The same show that left us with so many cliff hangers from season to season totally dropped the ball on this one. Ryan Murphy, I can only hope that this wasnt your writing. Total disaster....

Actually as a long time fan if if you were a fan you would know there are 2 more seasons to go. And this is season 5 part 2 not season 6...I own the seasons and it clearly states seasson 5 part 1 on the season. Besides they won't leave it hanging like that either. And it is a drama, you could not have possibly predicted that entire episode.

Ok "anonymous," I am not a fan so I just do this to pick on the show. Just to educate, this is the end of season 5 part 2. Season 6 will be in two parts. I dont want to predict the episodes and Nip/Tuck is hardly ever predictable except for tonight which was a disappointment. I am sorry if you dont agree. We'll agree to disagree.

The first part about this finale not being up to par I agree with. However, Christian NOT dying...kind of shocked me considering almost all of season 5-part 2 was centered around it! And I'm not quite sure how you could want the writers to go through with Christian's death!! How could they possibly write another episode without Dr. Troy?!
As for Teddy...we all knew she was psycho, but where the hell did this double life come from? I suspected something, but it was a little random and confusing to throw into the last episode. They should have killed her off...But who knows? They might need her to join Ram's crew next!
Lastly, do we know when to expect Season 6 to air??

I dont think the writers would have to write an episode without Christian. My vision was season 6 part 1 going through his illness and part 2 would be Sean dealing with Christian's death. We would have seen visions of Christian as we had with Escobar. I guess that wont happen now. ;)

The entire season has been extremely disappointing. The current writers need to be fired! What happened to the creative genius that kept all of the NipTuck fan's on their seats laughing out load and waiting for more? Surely they could come up with better drama this season. There was NOTHING this year that was congruent with past episodes. It was so dark and boring. Trying to use one-off characters - vampires, freak show guy who grew new limbs, the doctor having sex with the couch, the psycho Teddy - to keep the excitment and drama going fell so short of the mark it is just ridiculous! Bring back the old Nip Tuck please!!!!

I've been a Nip/Tuck fan since season 2 and although this season did not have the same "flare" for the dramatic as season's past, it did have it's moments. The season finale did not have us on the edge of our seats, but it did lead to a great deal of anticipation for next season. Of course Christian not dying didn't come to a surprise and the way it happened left a lot to be desired, but I think the previews of the vampires and the freezing (the whole live forever theme) did keep us off balance enough to watch until the very end, which is what the writers are suppose to do. I don't know about most, but I am definitely looking forward to Season 6 and hopefully it's not the last one!

I concur completely. Weak fart finale.

I didn't realize it was the finale until I checked for previews of next weeks show. It was not written the way finale's of years past. The only thing I came away with was feeling really bad for Lizzy. And thinking how stupid the whole vampire story line was, I think the writers were confusing the show with trueblood

i want to know when season 6 starts!!! also, is season 6 the last season? is it because ratings dropped or they just dont want to do it anymore?! the finale sucked by the way, so does christian regret his decision of getting married now? is he gonna get a divorce and marry kimber now?! wtf?!?! and psycho bitch teddy...i dont get why she was role playing and dating the other old fart??!? help

I am definitely with you. I have watched nip tuck since season 2. I was disappointed with the finale as well. However, we do have to look forward to Teddy's double life and we have a murder once again. We haven't seen a murder in about two years. Although Julia was almost murdered last year. I hope the writer gets back into the raunchiness that we are all use to. Christian being married is good, but I feel for poor Lizzy. I also think Matt needs to get some b$lls next season because he is getting on my last nerve.

Let's be honest here:

The finale accomplished one thing: Christian is still kickin. Big surprise. I would have lost my life's savings if they killed him off, because that's a safe bet to make when its just a season finale. Everyone knows the show would fail without Christian because it is the relationship between Christian and Sean that we've been watching since day one. Sure Matt, Kimber, liz, Julia have had their parts, but when it comes down to it, it's all about Sean and Christian pretending to be gay while they taste wedding cake, or them fighting over Julia, just to realize they're fine as long as they have each other as brothers.

So.

The finale was a waste of an hour of my time. Who gives a shit about Teddy. She's a wackjob.. big surprise. This episode was such a disappointment.

Just my two cents.

I could not get through this season. I figured there would be some cop out with Christian's illness and I just felt as if the writers could have given us a better season period. Is anyone surprised that that retard Sean has yet ANOTHER crazy ass f**k buddy?

This season was so bad, that I swear to God, if Quentin the Carver returned for the next season, I would welcome that storyline with open arms!

The Carver returning would work for me too... LOL!

Love the comment Anonymous!

The only good thing with this season was the complete disappearance of Julia! :)

It doesn't qualify as a cliffhanger that Christian needs to tell Liz he's healthy? He's either going to hope Liz backs out by saying she feels differently about him now that he doesn't need to be taken care of, or he's going to mess things up somehow despite his newfound perspective on life. It should be interesting to see how that plays out and whether or not we see Christian TRULY change for the first time in the series by sticking with Liz. Unlikely, of course.

Season 6 is in two parts, or is it seasons 6 and 7? Is this it? How many more eps do we get? I'm confused because the reports say the show is going to be airing into 2011. If we see new episodes later this year, I figure we must have two seasons left, no?

At 3/10/2009 1:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Here here! I concur with the diagnosis doctors! Quentin the cockless carver would make a welcome addition at this point, and to think I was disappointed in season 3 originally! The carver storyline was much better.

I miss the old Kimber too. The still young, surprisingly intelligent and stauch (remember how she stuck by Christian when the dickless carver's imbred sister policewoman was threatening to frame him) and classy Kimber. I can't stand the over the hill bimbo they've turned her into. Her lines make me want to puke these days.

At 3/10/2009 1:59 PM, Blogger Nip/Tuck Fanatic said...

That's a great point. I do miss Kimber as she used to be. I credit her acting ability to make me despise her when she's on screen now but I completely agree. However, it's a bit too late for the 180 degree turnaround.

As a long time fan of Nip/Tuck I too was disappointed with the season finale and the season as a whole was ok (part 1 of this season ranked as the worst, for me). I miss the amazing writing that made up the previous seasons. The move to LA killed it for me--the plots were too wacky and the show took on a more 'not so clever comedy' spin rather than sticking to the edge-of-your-seat, 'what's going to happen next?' kind of drama it was before...But I'm still a loyal fan and hoping that what we have left of this fabulous drama returns to what it was before. I'm on board for the return of Quinten!

At 3/11/2009 9:17 PM, Blogger Nip/Tuck Fanatic said...

Excellent point Rania. Nip/Tuck did try to go the comedy route and it just doesnt work. Everyone loves Christian's one-liners but that's really where it should end. I dont mind a whacky character but it was the drama that made the show. You couldnt wait for the next episode to come. That was lost somewhere along the way this year.

Some could argue that Christian's diagnosis was a cliffhanger but it didnt feel that way. Most people thought it was going to be a misdiagnosis anyway. I was at least hoping they would take a leap of faith and do something different, something dark but it didnt happen.

Love the comments... keep em coming!

First off, I just have to comment on a comment made on 3/4 about the "freak who regrows his own limbs." This was a true story, check it out on http://dsc.discovery.com. This is why Nip/Tuck is such a great show. Just like Hearts & Scalpels, Nip/Tuck uses a lot of real cases, well their similar versions of them, to make the show intriguing. Although, I do agree with the fact that some of the patients were definitely "out there."

Nip/Tuck has had me hooked ever since the first "Tell me what you don't like about yourself." I am still hooked, and will continue to be until the Series Finale.

Great comments, I just really hope this show has a better ending than Sopranos had...

The show is great. Stop hating on this season just because no one died, and stop hating on the finale because no pedophile serial killers were caught while sodomizing transgender vampires.

This is a great show, and good luck trying to write something half as good as the worst nip tuck episode ever.

Season 6 is airing Jan. 2010 and Jan. 2011, 10 episodes total for a complete 100 episodes of Nip Tuck.

The move to L.A. was a good idea I think. It showed how the relationships remain no matter what the setting. There's plenty of suspense, and plenty of questions still to be answered, so stop complaining and wait for the next season.

Also, it is possible that Christian doesn't die next season, and that Sean dies. We've seen Sean have to deal with being alone, when Julia left, twice, and he got through it. What we haven't seen is what Christian would do if he didn't have Sean or Julia or Michelle or someone to lean on. Watch, and don't expect what you're expecting.

Nip/tuck is the best show to ever grace this planet. I don't care what you self-loathing idiots say. And by the way this will not be the last season of pure genius. It will be the penultimate season. As if you poor excuses for articulate human beings would know what that meant. I will fill you in, penultimate means next to last. FYI:That doesn't mean last. Read up on your facts will ya. Nip/Tuck: Allegra Caldarello Chat

Well, here we are closing in on the end of Season 5 (Part 2). It's nice to see Liz have an episode dedicated to her. I thought she was great. It was also a nice touch to have Lizzie's surgery be Christian's last.

I am starting to see how this is going to hurt Sean (and now Liz) and it has to make you feel bad as a fan of the show. I know a lot of the feedback is that Christian won't die and that there is a plot or foulup causing a huge mixup. I honestly do think that his character will die as we close in on the end of the show. My gut feeling is that this is drawn out into Season 6, Part 1 and ultimately ends with Part 2 showing how Sean is able to cope. I could easily see Sean having visions of Christian or using Christian in a ghost-like manner like they did with Escobar.

While there was a lot of doom and gloom in this episode, you have got to love the nutty doctor, Logan Taper! I have no idea what sexual disorder he had but it was hysterical!!! You had this weird feeling that he admired Christian's taste in furniture a bit too much but I had no idea it was leading to that! I am still getting a laugh at how he spread the couch pillows apart and left the slightest crack between them.... OMFG!!! Of course, it can't just end there... Christian is getting his furniture professionally cleaned when Logan comes back because he forgot some of his things. The real reason of course is to have a repeat performance with surgery table! For those that haven't seen the episode, this alone is worth the laugh!

Liz finally stood up to her mom and Christian made her feel like a million bucks by getting her a brand new dress to wear on her wedding day. I think this was the first episode ever where Christian wasnt a smart ass! ;) Liz tells her mom that she is not invited to the wedding.

All of this chaos was going on at the same time an old friend came back to the show. Allegra Caldarello returned... you remember her right? "Put pussylips back on the schedule!" That had to be one of the classic lines of all time in Nip/Tuck. Allegra was in for some additional surgery. In turns out her husband is terminal as well and wants to make sure she is able to find a new man to take care of her and provide for her. He doesnt go about it in the best way, much like the way Christian forced Logan on Sean but it works out in the end.... much like it will for Sean.

The show closes with Sean looking at old movie clips of himself along with Christian and Julia when Teddy comes in. Sean admits to feeling as though he is losing everyone when Teddy promises Sean that he wont lose her.

It's really ending, like forever, ending?

This show is the only reason I watch FX, and I think killing it is horrid. But I guess they can't come up with all new craziness forever.

I am glad that they brought back
"breast" lips (that cracked me up) last night. the moment was a little bittersweet.

I'm gonna be sad when it ends, but all good things must before they out run their welcome I guess... one more week.

I loved what Lizzie said to her mom...she was really mean to her...

I laughed really hard when Allegra's husband brought Tito for her to get married to when he's gone...too funny

Nip/Tuck: Budi Sabri Chat

Is Christian really going to die in 6 months??? I think everyone in the world thought it would have just been a quick follow-up. Nice twist by the writers. As many of you read in my last post, I think Nip/Tuck is heading toward a very dark ending. I think it is pretty refreshing actually and really the premise of the show. No matter how much you cover up the ugliness, the true color is still there.

You have to love everytime Sean gets to let loose. It's so unexpected each and every time! He basically becomes Christian for a short time until he basically looks himself in the mirror and says "what am I doing?"

I thought Christian and Liz's moment was pretty genuine. While I dont think they're a match made in heaven, I think the writers did a great job in laying the ground work by using Budi Sabri's chat with Christian to say that he just wants a woman who accepts him for who he is with all his flaws.

Sean will always be by Christian's side. I just wonder what will happen to Sean if Christian does die. I think they both need each other more than anyone.

Music from this episode:
"Desert Mantra" David Hudson
"Heartbeat 2" Yomano
"Human" Human League
"Digeridoo" Aphex Twin
"The Curlew" Craicmoe

This show always has me guessing whats going to happen next. There is nothing like it!!! Christian is SO DAMN SEXY. Even the way the guy is you just have to love him. oozzies SEX.
