Larry Hagman, a man who knows his way around an over-the-top prime-time soap, is headed back to television in a recurring part on "Nip/Tuck."
The former "Dallas" star is one of three well-known names signing on for the FX series' fourth season, which will roll out later this year. Along with Hagman, Kathleen Turner will have a recurring role, and Brooke Shields will appear a guest star, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sanaa Lathan ("Something New") had previously been cast in a multi-episode arc on the show.
Hagman, who earned two Emmy nominations for playing the diabolical J.R. Ewing on "Dallas," is set to play the wealthy husband of Lathan's character. The couple buys the cosmetic surgery practice run by Drs. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon).
The part will be Hagman's first TV role in several years. He last went before the cameras in a 1998 "Dallas" movie subtitled "War of the Ewings."
Turner ("Body Heat," "The War of the Roses"), meanwhile, will play a phone-sex operator who fears her stock-in-trade -- her voice -- is failing her. She comes to McNamara/Troy for vocal-cord surgery. Her recent credits include a guest spot on "Law & Order" last season and voice work on the forthcoming animated movie "Monster House."
Finally, Shields will guest star in "Nip/Tuck's" season premiere as a psychologist treating Christian. Her most recent TV credit -- not including the battle of words she had with Tom Cruise last year over her use of antidepressants -- was a recurring part on "That '70s Show."

Hagman, Turner, Shields go in for ‘Nip/Tuck’
Source: MSNBC
In addition to Sanaa Lathan joining the cast, I just read that Larry Hagman, Kathleen Turner and Brooke Shields will appear as guest stars on Nip/Tuck in season 4!! FX is definitely putting the $$ behind the show this year.
According to the article, Hagman will play the much older husband of a beautiful thirtysomething woman (Sanaa Lathan), who buy McNamara/Troy, the Miami-based plastic surgery practice of Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon).
I am glad to see Kathleen Turner appearing this year as I loved her guest star appearances on Friends as Chandler'smom dad. Turner will play Cindy Plumb, a scotch- and cigarette-voiced phone-sex operator who comes to McNamara/Troy to rejuvenate her voice through a vocal cord surgery.
Brooke Shields will appear in the "Nip/Tuck" fourth-season opener as Dr. Wolper, a shrink in whom Troy confides.
Hagman is best known for his roles in "Dallas" and "I Dream of Jeannie." Turner voices one of the characters in Sony's upcoming animated feature "Monster House." Shields starred in "Suddenly Susan," which ran for four seasons on NBC.

Lathan recently signed on to reprise her Tony-nominated role from the 2004 Broadway revival of "A Raisin in the Sun" in ABC's upcoming adaptation of the play.

"Nip/Tuck" duo get salary lifts

Fri. June 2, 2006: By Nellie Andreeva
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Nip/Tuck" stars Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon have carved out nice pay bumps for the hit FX drama's upcoming fourth season, sources said.
Walsh, who plays Dr. Sean McNamara, and McMahon, who plays Dr. Christian Troy, are understood to have each received a combination of a cash bonus and a per-episode fee increase brining their total compensation up to the $1.6 million-$1.8 million range, or more than $100,000 for each of the 15 episodes. That is believed to be almost double what the two received for the show's third season.
The pay increases came from the network, not Warner Bros. TV, which produces the series with Shephard/Robin Prods., sources said. FX and Warner Bros. declined comment on the matter Thursday, as did the actors' representatives.
"Nip/Tuck," from creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy, had a strong third season, despite switching from the summer to the more competitive fall period. The two-hour finale in December, which unmasked the Carver, a serial slasher whose identity was under wraps the entire season, drew 5.7 million total viewers, the largest audience ever for an FX original series.
Production on the show's fourth season is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
